How did Swiss Finance Institute prepare you for your current job?

I am currently working as a proprietary trader at a New York-based, privately held firm. The trading simulations that I did during my time at SFA have been invaluable to the work that I do now. SFA’s highly intense curriculum helped me to learn the fundamentals of market making and proprietary trading functions. The analysis that I conducted during SFA simulations has given me an edge when conducting my daily responsibilities, as I felt like I came into my current position already having a solid understanding of the industry. The applied skills training makes a world of difference, and I don’t think it’s something that you could get from any other program.

How did Swiss Finance Institute equip you with the skills that you needed to find a job in the finance industry?

One of the best things that SFA offers is its individualized interview training. SFA faculty members and industry professionals take the time to give each student a mock interview, and then provide detailed feedback on everything that we did right and, more importantly, everything that we did wrong. Interviewers will often preface questions by saying that there are no wrong answers. Not so! SFA faculty members have had plenty of experience recruiting in the industry, and are able to provide invaluable guidance on the best way to present yourself during an interview, the best way to prepare for an interview and the best way to answer those difficult questions. When going through the “real thing” after the program, I was amazed at the similarities between my mock interview and the real interviews. The mock interview experience that I had under my belt helped me to approach the real thing with a level of confidence that just wouldn’t have been there otherwise.
