How did Swiss Finance Institute help you with your job search skills?

As I interviewed for my current position with Goldman Sachs, the interview skills that I developed during my time at SFA proved themselves to be very useful. SFA faculty and industry professionals do a great job of asking the questions and addressing the issues that are most likely to arise in a real interview situation. The mock interview was a really helpful tool in preparing myself for the real thing, as SFA covers everything from the substance of the interview to the behavioral/presentation aspects of the interview. The experience and feedback that I got from this part of the program were both really instrumental in boosting my level of confidence and preparedness for my interview with Goldman.

What practical, job-related skills did you acquire from the Swiss Finance Institute curriculum?

SFA provides an abundance of opportunities to apply what is learned in the classroom. As part of the curriculum, students are exposed to M&A modeling exercises, pitch books, case studies and projects related to topics such as valuation, restructuring transactions and competitive strategy analysis. We engaged in numerous simulations on IPOs, M&A, LBOs and Restructuring, and also had the chance to do a capital market research presentation. The whole experience provided a great foundation for my current position in the New Products group at Goldman, which structures complex M&A, equity and other financing transactions.
